Festival and festivities are an integral part of Indian religions and customs. Our trip to Ladakh this summer is planned to coincide with the fascinating Takthok Festival – a monastic festival commemorating the birth anniversary of Gurupadmasambha, an Indian sage and guru who brought Buddhism to Tibet.

Hundreds of people from different regions flock to Ladakh come to see these festivals and to get blessed by spiritual dance that depict the life story of Padmasambhava.
In Ladakh, Buddhism is part and parcel of people’s social and cultural life.

Festivals attract Ladakhi people from all over the country. And of course, travellers from all around the world.
