A wilderness hideaway set in a sheltered cove on the western side of Moyo island, Amanwana, or ‘peaceful forest,’ provides an experience of the natural world at its most diverse. Surrounded by tropical rainforest, the resort overlooks Amanwana bay, a protected marine park, and the inviting waters of the Flores Sea.
The journey begins as guests fly from Bali to Moyo Island in a Cessna Caravan amphibian floatplane which lands in the bay directly in front of Amanwana, weather permitting.
Luxurious tented accommodation at Amanwana
The camp’s 20 luxury tents are located under a canopy of tropical forest and are a haven for divers, hikers and nature lovers. The island is inhabited by a unique mix of jungle animals from deer to wild boars and macaque monkeys and a variety of spectacular bird life includes eagles and osprey. Walks into the wonders of Moyo’s jungle haven begin from the camp.
The Flores Sea’s pristine reefs offer some of the best diving sites in Indonesia and are suitable for beginners and experienced divers. The waters around Amanwana offer a spectacular array of magical, iridescent and fascinating sea life including giant turtles and a myriad of tropical fish.
The Amanwana Nature Experience includes three complimentary activities: a guided excursion to a series of spring-fed, limestone waterfalls and cool freshwater jungle pools, a one-hour massage at Amanwana’s seaside Jungle Cove or Spa Tent and a beach dive on the Amanwana Sea Wall.

Transfers between Bali and Amanwana
Trans Nusa
Daily scheduled flights are also operated by Trans Nusa year-round. The 52-seater ATR 42-300 plane flies from Bali to Sumbawa with a 15-minute stop-over in Lombok. Amanwana guests embark on a leisurely cruise to the resort from Sumbawa. Total transfer time is three hours at US$150 nett per person each way.
Trans Nusa is also available for private charter from Bali direct to Sumbawa at a one-way cost of US$5,500 nett. Flight time is 40 minutes.

Travira Air
- Scheduled air transfers to Moyo Island depart from Bali 3 times a week from May 01 – Oct 31, 2009, and Dec 23 – Jan 05, 2010, 2010 by Cessna Caravan amphibian floatplane
- This state-of-the-art floatplane, operated by Travira Air, lands in the bay directly in front of Amanwana, weather permitting*, and is Amanwana’s recommended mode of transfer.
- Flying time is approximately 65 minutes and guests need to arrive at the airport in Denpasar only 45 minutes before the flight. The 675-hp, turboprop jet engine floatplane can carry up to 8 persons comfortably, with a strict baggage allowance of 15kg per person.
- Cost of the transfer is US$400 nett per person each way.
