Itinerary

Day 01 / Singapore – Hanoi

Day 02 / Hanoi – Halong – Bai TuLong Bay
Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi. Drive to Halong, embark at noon, a slow cruise to the famous islands of Halong Bay and onto Bai Tulong Bay, aside from the cave visit and swimming, which we will explore by kayak. All meals aboard the vessel.

Day 03 / Bai TuLong Bay
Morning Tai Chi lesson before breakfast, cruise Bai Tulong Bay, have the whole day exploring the islets and pocket lagoons by kayak. Tonight’s dinner is served while anchored in a private bay.

Day 04 / Bai TuLong Bay – Halong – Hanoi
Another soul awakening Tai Chi lesson before breakfast, a short trip on a local rowboat to visit Vung Vieng, a floating fishing village, chance to learn more about the daily life here. Cruise ends at noon in Hon Gai.

Our Saffron Saigon to Hanoi trip combines luxurious accommodation and a sprinkling of activity, to make this the ultimate way to experience Vietnam.

Ho Chi Minh and the start of our tour is a great introduction to Vietnam as it vibrancy cannot help but make you want to get out and explore. The next few days are a contrast in experiences, as we head up into the cool mountain air of the central highlands and visit the Vietnams garden – Dalat. From the mountains to the coast as we head to Nha Trang and visit some of the nearby islands.

The central coast of Vietnam allows us to visit the historic Hoi An, Myson and Hue and a chance to go back in time and see some of the history that has helped shape Vietnam. From here we head up to Hanoi, with its colonial elegance and laid back atmosphere make it sharp contrast to Ho Chi Minh city. What trip to Vietnam would be complete without a visit to the stunning Halong bay and we make the trip all the more special by cruising round this fables area in a traditional junk. We end the trip in Hanoi by having dinner a very special farewell dinner.

Cycling is the only way to see Vietnam. You will see the country close up and really meet the people. We have made the effort to take you away from the main roads into quiet, peaceful Vietnam.

Itinerary
13 Days/12 nights starting in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and finishing in Hanoi.

Day 01 /Arrive Saigon – transfer to hotel. Time permitting afternoon walking tour.

Day 02 / Guided walking tour around Saigon topped by an introduction to some local Vietnamese flavors for lunch.

Day 03 / Transfer to airport for flight to Dalat. Afternoon bike around the back roads and cobbled streets surrounding Dalat.

Day 04 /Morning off-road ride through pine forests to trailhead of our hike up to lookout point.

Day 05 / Follow hilltop ridges before plunging down a spectacular descent out of the mountains and towards the pristine beaches of Nha Trang.

Day 06 /Half-day ride on quiet back roads stopping at various points of interest along the way.

Day 07 / Transfer to airport for flight to Danang. Rest of day free to explore Hoi An.

Day 08 / Ride to Myson, visit Cham temples and transfer back to Hoi An.

Day 09 / Transfer to the start of the ride, take a short ferry ride and follow the coastal road to Hue.

Day 10 / Morning ride around Hue and countryside littered with royal tombs.

Day 11 /Transfer to the airport for flight to Hanoi and an afternoon guided sightseeing tour to explore the capital city.

Day 12 / Transfer to Halong bay and cruise the UNESCO site on a traditional junk.

Day 13 / Morning cruise before transfer back to Hanoi and farewell dinner.

Day 14 /Cyclo tour of Hanoi’s old quarter before transfer to airport for flight home.

Trip Profile

Most of the riding is along back roads and quiet byways making sure we avoid the traffic of National Highway One.

The tour takes 14 days and we tend to ride either in the morning or the afternoon, and take time out of the saddle to explore all the main sites.

We use planes and boats and, of course, we have a fully equipped, air-conditioned support bus with us at all times so tired riders can rest in comfort whenever they wish.

The tour is led by an experienced Tour Leader and a local Vietnamese cycle guide. Plus we supply detailed route notes and maps so that you will enjoy maximum freedom while riding.

There are no technical sections and owing to the distances the tour is suitable for all levels of riders.

Staff For groups of 04-05, an experienced English-speaking Vietnamese cycling leader, for groups of 06 or more a Western cycling leader plus a Vietnamese cycling guide. Plus drivers and assistants for all groups.
Accommodation All hotels are of a high standard and are no less than 4-stars. We prefer hotels with charm and character.
Food All meals are included except for 04 dinners.
