Wonders of Angkor
Amansara, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Discover the wonders of one of the world’s foremost ancient sites: the culmination of five centuries of Khmer civilisation found in the grand temple ruins of Angkor. Serenely majestic, this 12th century capital is an exquisite blend of history and heritage spreading over 20,000 hectares.
Angkor Wat is perhaps Angkor’s best known image. Its five intricately carved central towers soar skywards representing mythological Mount Meru, the centre of the universe. Its exterior walls are covered in extensive bas-reliefs including the panel depicting the “Churning of the Ocean of Milk”. The centre of Khmer Hindu tradition for much of the 12th century, exploration of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and the sprawling remains of Khmer civilisation is an experience as stirring as it is memorable.

Located 10 minutes from the entrance to this acclaimed UNESCO World Heritage site, the compelling legacy of Khmer civilisation can be experienced from the tranquil base of Amansara, a 24-suite resort, once the guest villa of Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihanouk.
Tailor-made unique experiences await from the moment you arrive. A classic 1960s stretch Mercedes once belonging to King Sihanouk will take you from Siem Reap’s international airport to Amansara, 15 minutes away.
Set in a private garden compound with the intimate ambience of a gracious home, Amansara provides twice daily house outings in a remork (moped-powered trishaw) with an English-speaking guide and driver. Conducted early morning and late afternoon to avoid the sun and crowds, these focus on the temples surrounding Angkor Wat.
Tailor-made, off-the-beaten-path excursions can also be arranged, taking you deeper into the countryside beyond the Angkor park.
On request, Amansara can arrange a private dinner at Prasat Kravan. The approach in darkness heightens the sense of mystery before the enchanting setting is finally lit and revealed.

Facilities at Amansara include two swimming pools, roof terrace, library, bar and a uniquely designed circular dining room with seven-metre high ceiling and walk-in wine cellar. Amansara’s spa offers massage and beauty treatments drawing on traditional Cambodian techniques.
